Townhome, sweet townhome :)

Good evening, everyone! I apologize for the big gap between posts, but this last 10 days has been insane and filled with moving, cleaning, and trying to keep everything in order.

I am so pleased and excited with how everything is coming together at the townhouse and I am working hard on the finishing touches throughout the rooms. I have lots of projects still to come so I am not going to share pictures of each space until it is completely done!

That being said….my living room is one space that has come together really nicely and I am feeling like it is very close to complete so it is the first space I wanted to share on the blog. Here is the living room in all its glory!! I love how the tones and colors came together to give it a relaxing and clean feeling.

The living room!

My favorite part of the room is the accent wall which I painted in Valspar’s “Enchanted Garden”(BIG shout-out to my best friend Marit who came over last week and had a painting party with me to get the walls looking GREAT before any furniture got moved in!! You’re the best!!!). It is a calming mix of gray/blue tones that reminds me of stormy ocean water. My black and white canvas shot of Amsterdam is from IKEA and I have had it for many years. It really pops on the colored wall. I am still so excited about the fact that I was able to PAINT walls in this place. Yay for no more white wall filled apartments!!

My couch is an absolute statement piece and I purchased it last summer from Furniture Row. The second I saw it in the store I knew that it was “the one” and I had to have it! The white makes it clean and modern but I love how the style reminds me of something modular and 1970s flair. It is extremely comfortable but has a fancy look so it’s the best of both worlds. The rug is also from furniture row and ties the whole room together. My white chair I had back in college and incorporating throws/accent pillows in turquoise and coral keeps the whole room together without feeling “matchy matchy”

The only thing I am still searching for for the living room is some great window dressings or a valence in more of a tan/metallic finish to tie in some warmer colors and give the window more of a pop since right now it only has blinds. I am going to do some hunting around next week and see what I can find that might work!

Also, Luna really approves of her new living room. She likes to lounge on the couch and practice her posing 😀

I am so excited to show you more rooms in the coming days as I get things set up. The dining room should be up next so keep yours eyes peeled 🙂 Thanks so much for reading!!

Saturday calls for paint samples and coffee!

This weekend is officially “crunch time” because I am only 3 days away from moving in to my townhouse!! I am really excited to move because there are so many exciting projects ahead, but the process of getting ready can be overwhelming at times. To take a break from packing up at my apartment I decided this rainy day would be a good time to have some fun and start deciding on some paint colors for the new place!

I headed to Lowe’s with my two main paint projects in mind:

  1. One of the bedroom walls at my new place is currently painted a beautiful dark purple. It is one of my favorite colors but unforunately doesn’t match any of my current bedroom furniture or bedding. So, the good news is, I get to have some fun by picking out a color that works and transforming the space into something new! I am only going to paint one wall because it will be quite the accent. I am shooting for a turquoise color (one of my other favorites) and I will of course post a picture when it’s all done!
  2. Secondly, I am thrilled to no longer be renting an apartment and have the ability to paint walls and do some projects that will really make this townhouse my own. I am going to leave a majority of the walls neutral colored (at least for now) but I am going to take the main living room wall and give it some color for an accent. I have a really unique couch as well as a huge piece of art in my living room that I love. I want to paint the wall behind it to really make it stand out. For this I am searching for more of a gray/blue that will be neutral enough for such a large wall and give the room a calm and relaxed feeling.

I may have gotten a littleeeee carried away with my paint sample snatching but I know that I will have NO problem finding something that works out of all of the options I snagged! I met up with my Aunt Stacie afterwards at Starbucks to do a little brainstorming and talk about some other projects that I’m planning to do at my place as well as hear about things she’s working on/looking to do at her house!

(Side note: we both tried the newest drink at Starbucks that involves coconut milk and espresso….and we both give it a solid 2 thumbs up)

Here is a picture of all of the samples (as well as the tasty drink 🙂 ) I can’t wait to show all of you the finished choices up on the walls!

all of my options…now it’s time to decide!

We also made a nice long trip to Hobby Lobby this afternoon for some more inspiration. I found a couple of pieces I think will work well in the new place and I’m looking forward to working them in to some new spaces.

Next week is the big move so keep you eyes peeled for lots of pictures and projects in the coming weeks as I show you the transformations I make as I get everything settled! I have some exciting tricks up my sleeve and I hope I can bring all of you some inspiration. Last but not least, I thought I would include a picture of my outfit of the day that includes BOTH of my favorites colors (purple and turquoise!)

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! I look forward to sharing more soon

Let’s talk about LEGGINGS!

Hi everyone!

Over the last week I have been contemplating what I should write my first post about and I finally made my decision.

Many of you who know me know that I have quite the collection of leggings and many of them are pretty brightly colored or patterned. I would say about 80% of my weekly outfits include a pair of leggings. I tend to start with the leggings and build the rest of my outfit around them. Since many of the leggings I own have crazy patterns I tend to keep the rest of my outfit pretty neutral; pairing them with neutral colored tunics or dresses.

I’m not going to include a picture of all of my different crazy leggings because I am going to save that for another day. But I am going to talk to you about  very specific brand of leggings that I think all of you can fall in love with if you find yourself wearing leggings as often as I do.

I’ll never forget seeing an Instagram post of my friend Jenny and she was wearing THE coolest leggings I had ever seen. I immediately commented on the picture and asked her where I could find them myself! The information she shared has led me to the phenomenon of….

LuLaRoe!

I had never heard of this company before and I am assuming many of you will say the same. LuLaRoe is unique in the fact that they don’t have any physical store locations and they don’t even sell their products directly through their website. They only sell their merchandise through independent consultants who you can find across the US. Buying LuLaRoe merchandise is as simple as searching “LuLaRoe” on Facebook and finding a consultant’s closed group. You can then request access to their group and begin shopping! Each of the consultants posts their inventory and sells on different days of the week but you just look through pictures and do your shopping strictly through their site.

I joined a group and immediately was in awe at all of the AMAZING patterned 🙂 (and solid colored) leggings, as well as a lot of other fun items of clothing including tunics, dresses, knee-length skirts, maxi skirts, and some clothing items for both men and children too!!

Like I mentioned, each consultant may run their online sales differently but they all lay out their information on their Facebook pages and they are very easy to contact with any questions. So far, I have ordered 2 pairs of leggings and one dress and to say I love them is an understatement…

I have a hard time finding the right word to describe the fabric and feel of the leggings without having people actually feel them for themselves. They are extremely soft and have almost a velvet-like feeling to them which makes them very comfortable for any situation. They also have a decent amount of stretch to them but it doesn’t affect the pattern or the way they look once they are put on.

If you are interested in checking out some leggings (and many other things!) from LuLaRoe you can visit their website here for basic company information but then you can go searching for a Facebook group to actually be able to check out the products and shop! Below are some pictures of the leggings and dress I own.

Thanks for checking in with me on #sugarspiceandstylethatsnice and let me know if you have any questions about this post or how to get connected with a consultant!
